At our Rotterdam headquarters, we're developing a proprietary manufacturing process for prescription lenses tailored for Augmented Reality and smart eyewear. We're a small, focused team solving one of the toughest challenges in wearable tech: delivering high-precision, durable, and scalable lens systems that meet both technical and visual standards.
We are now looking to grow our team with someone who brings deep expertise in optical polymers and functional coatings—and who can turn that knowledge into real, testable results.
🚀 What You’ll Be Doing
- Develop and prototype thin-film coating processes for optical polymers used in AR lenses
- Design and run structured experiments to validate coating performance, durability, and manufacturability
- Work hands-on with coating techniques: dip coating, spin coating, spray coating, vacuum deposition
- Solve real-world problems like haze, glare, adhesion, and abrasion through smart materials design
- Collaborate closely with the prototyping team to integrate coatings into lens systems
This is practical, lab-based work where chemistry meets optics and speed matters.
🧠 What We’re Looking For
We don’t expect you to know everything. We do expect:
- A solid foundation in chemistry, polymer science, or surface engineering
- 5+ years of hands-on experience with coatings development for lenses or display optics
- Strong familiarity with ophthalmic materials and common coating types (AR, hard coat, anti-fog, hydrophobic, etc.)
- Experience in consumer electronics is a plus—especially if you've worked on materials for products that ship
- Comfortable working in a lab/pilot setting with coating tools and test methods
- A proactive, execution-oriented mindset with an eye for both detail and scalability
🌱 What You’ll Get
- A Hard Challenge – We're building something that doesn't exist yet. It's deep-tech with real-world applications.
- Ownership – You’ll lead the coatings and materials domain within a core technology.
- Growth – As we expand globally, you'll be shaping material strategies that scale.
- Competitive Pay – We offer a solid salary, with plenty of upside along with company success.
You’ll help shape optical systems used by the next generation of AR devices—and be part of a team doing something no one else is doing (yet).
