About Fluxthor
Fluxthor is a TU Delft spinoff developing a new class of magnetic actuators that are faster, more precise, and highly energy efficient. Unlike conventional actuators that rely on coils, we control magnetic resistance using a novel reluctance tuning principle. This means our actuators dissipate minimal heat, enabling high precision and speed, which is crucial for applications in semiconductors, optics, and high-tech research systems. We're based at YES!Delft and backed by deep-tech funding and patent licensing.
The Role
We’re looking for a hands-on, technically curious Mechatronics Engineer to join as our first hire. You’ll work directly with the founders to bring our core technology from lab to market. Expect to design, build, and test new actuator configurations, from modeling and prototyping to control and performance testing. This is a full-stack mechatronics role in a fast-paced, high-ownership environment, with direct influence on design decisions, product roadmap, and technical direction.
What You’ll Do
Collaborate with the founding team on new actuator concepts and define their dynamical models
Analyze and optimize system behavior using our custom simulation tools
Contribute to new patent applications by identifying novel configurations and mechanisms
Design assemblies in SolidWork, ready for prototyping and production
Build prototypes in-house or through suppliers, ensuring mechanical precision
Integrate actuators with sensors, drives, and controllers for testing in our lab
Study and implement control algorithms that relevant for the system
Provide input for the technical product roadmap based on test results and learnings
What We’re Looking For
MSc in Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering (preferably TU Delft track High-Tech Engineering. TU/e Mechatronics System Design or equivalent)
Hands-on mindset: you enjoy designing, building, testing and iterating
Team-oriented and communicative and you like working together at the office
Detail-driven in modeling, CAD, prototyping, and documentation
Eager to learn and ready to take ownership in a startup environment
Bonus Points
Interest in magnetic systems and precision motion
Experience with rapid prototyping (3D printing), or manual milling/lathe machines
Comfortable writing clean Python code for physical simulations or tools
What We Offer
A fair and transparent salary, with future equity options — so you share in the long-term value you help build
30 days off and 8% vacation allowance
A front-row seat in a high-impact startup shaping next-gen actuation
Close collaboration with a driven, technical founding team
Office space at YES!Delft, surrounded by a vibrant startup ecosystem with events
Opportunity to be listed as co-inventor on new patent filings
