At our Rotterdam headquarters, we're developing a proprietary manufacturing process for prescription lenses tailored for Augmented Reality and smart eyewear. We're a compact, dynamic team tackling one of the toughest challenges in wearable tech: creating precision lens systems from multi-component materials, at scale and high quality.
We’re expanding our lab team and looking for someone who thrives on hands-on, creative problem-solving—someone who independently sets up equipment, manages precise mixing and reactor setups, and confidently applies specialized coatings to refine our innovative materials.
🚀 What You’ll Be Doing
- Independently construct, operate, and optimize small reactors and mixing equipment for multi-component materials.
- Precisely prepare, fine-tune, and apply chemical mixtures and specialized coatings, working autonomously from established protocols and expert guidelines.
- Proactively deploy and enhance coating processes (e.g., dip, spin, spray coatings), ensuring consistent quality, reproducibility, and continuous improvement.
- Conduct structured tests and measurements to validate formulations, optimize processes, and ensure materials meet high-performance standards.
- Uphold rigorous safety standards, ensuring all procedures adhere to laboratory safety protocols and best practices.
- Accurately document procedures, observations, and results to support continuous process development and efficient scale-up.
- Collaborate effectively with external specialists to integrate expert insights and technical recommendations into practice.
This role emphasizes autonomy, practical expertise, and creativity to safely transform lab innovations into scalable, real-world solutions.
🧠 What We’re Looking For
We don’t expect you to know everything. But we do expect:
- At least 3+ years of independent, hands-on experience as a lab technician or process technician in chemical, materials, or related labs.
- Proven ability to autonomously build, manage, and improve laboratory equipment and setups.
- Demonstrable skills in precise chemical mixing, complex multi-component formulation handling, and creative problem-solving.
- Solid experience with deploying and optimizing coating applications and processes.
- Strong commitment to laboratory safety, including proactive management of chemical handling, equipment operation, and safety documentation.
- Detail-oriented, structured approach to laboratory work, coupled with excellent documentation skills.
- Strong communication skills for seamless collaboration with internal teams and external experts.
