About the assignment
Within our Trap-Eye systems, we are facing a recurring issue: condensation forming on the inside of the acrylic window. This negatively impacts camera visibility and image quality. While extreme cases have been observed, the issue can also occur intermittently under normal greenhouse conditions. The root cause is likely a combination of temperature differentials and trapped humidity inside the housing, leading to fogging or droplet formation on the inner surface of the window. The current design does not actively mitigate this, making performance dependent onenvironmental conditions.
Objective
The goal of this internship is to develop a reliable, low-cost, and scalable solution that prevents condensation while maintaining optical clarity across a wide range of environments.
What you will do
You will take ownership of investigating and validating potential solutions, including:
● Exploring different solution directions, such as:
○ Anti-fog or hydrophobic coatings
○ Pre-coated materials (e.g. coated acrylic or polycarbonate)
○ Low-power heating solutions (e.g. resistive heating, conductive traces, IR)
○ Passive approaches (e.g. heat-absorbing features like a black ring)
● Designing and building test setups to evaluate performance
● Comparing solutions based on:
○ Effectiveness
○ Durability
○ Cost
○ Manufacturability
● Iterating on concepts and experiments
● Recommending a final solution
● Collaborating with the product team to integrate the solution into in-house mass production
Who we are looking for
● You are currently enrolled in an HBO or WO program (e.g. Physics, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, Mechatronics, Materials Science, or similar)
You have an interest in
○ Product development
○ Hands-on testing and experimentation
○ Thermal and/or material challenges
● You are structured, independent, and proactive
● You combine analytical thinking with a practical mindset
What we offer
● A hands-on internship with direct impact on a product in production
● Freedom to explore your own ideas and approaches
● Guidance from a multidisciplinary technical/product team
● A fast-moving, innovative environment (agritech / drones / vision systems)
