Alkaline Electrolyzer Expert

Note: This is a hands-on role to build a 10kW pilot (and beyond) in Rotterdam and Delft. We want someone who has personally designed, assembled, tested, debugged, or maintained alkaline electrolyzer stacks. PEM-only or fuel-cell-only experience is not enough unless paired with meaningful AWE or chlor-alkalie electrolysis work.

Role mandate

At Spiral Hydrogen you have a chance to do something extraordinary: shape the future of energy.

We started with a big question: what does civilization need to flourish? The answer we came to is: cheap green energy. We are starting with hydrogen.

Our novel electrolyzer design, which achieves 95% electrical efficiency (HHV) and eliminates many costly components, can deliver green hydrogen below gray hydrogen costs.

We just need you to make it happen.

So far, we have validated the core design, protected the IP, and got VC funding. Now we are preparing for a 100 kW pilot.

For that, we are looking for an alkaline electrolyzer (AWE) expert to join the core team and contribute to the design, development and implementation of the system, as we transition from cells to stacks and beyond.

Who you are

1. A technical generalist who thrives in the prototype-pilot-scaleup phase.
2. Someone who can still think out of the box after seeing it all. You get excited by challenges and have a healthy obsession with technical systems.
3. You also want to solve big global problems, like climate change or energy security. You are driven by a mission to do something good for the world.

Requirements

1. Have seen and worked closely with AWEs (3+ years) in the industry (or in academia with an industry outlook), in both kW and MW scales.
2. You were involved with both conceptual design and hands-on prototyping, testing, assembly, or maintenance. You’ve seen how things break.
3. Higher education (MSc. or equivalent) in chemistry, physics, engineering or another related field.
4. Willing to work in Rotterdam full-time in-person.
